FAQ’s

What is a sample sale?
To keep our inventory fresh, we do sell select bridal gowns at a steal. Samples are the floor models of the wedding gowns and will not be in perfect condition. Most gowns will be a bridal size 10 or 12, which correlates to a street size 6 to 10. If you are looking for a specific style, designer, or price point, please let us know when making your appointment so we can be of service. Keep in mind that sample gowns are not always kept on the floor and do require an appointment.
What is a trunk show?
A trunk show is an event that occurs when the designer sends multiple collections or pieces to a shop to give brides in the area a chance to view more of what they have to offer. Trunk shows usually last only a couple of days and often give the bride perks if they purchase, such as a discount or a chance to meet the designer. Make sure to check our Events page to see what trunk shows we have coming up!
What do I need to bring to the appointment?
Many of the gowns offered at Meg Guess Couture are built with fitted, supportive structure and skirt shaping slips sewn in. Because of this, our gowns fit best when the bride is not layered with a corset. A bridal consultant will be helping you into all the dresses you try on, so you might want to consider wearing full coverage underwear. It is also a good idea to bring a strapless bra that you feel comfortable in.
Who should I bring to my appointment?
This depends on the bride and whose opinions she values when selecting her perfect gown. No matter who you invite to attend your appointment, make sure the person is prepared to offer support and make sure you are happy with the gown you choose.
Why do bridal stores ask about budget?
Meg Guess Couture does not group gowns based on price point, but rather by designer. Therefore, you can find gowns hanging together that are in different price ranges. We want to save you the frustration of selecting a gown that is outside of your advised budget. You are more than welcome to try on any dress in our shop, but we want to let you know when you are choosing gowns that are outside of the budget you set for yourself. When you allow your bridal consultant to know your budget, you give them the ability to show you gowns that match your vision in both style and budget.
Can I still find a dress if my wedding is only a few months away?
Of course. Meg Guess Couture can work with brides who need their gown in a shorter amount of time than normal production and delivery schedules. There are multiple solutions for brides who need a gown quickly, including sample sales, rush orders, and discontinued dresses. Schedule an appointment as soon a possible so we can assist you in finding your perfect dress.
Why do I have to order my gown so far in advance?
When a bride finds her gown at Meg Guess Couture, the dress is not made until it is ordered to create a gown customized for the bride. The designers sold at Meg Guess Couture are different than what you will find elsewhere. They work with small production teams that are supervised by the designers themselves or their production manager. In order to fulfill requests from Meg Guess Couture and other retailers that sell their gowns, designers typically request around 14-20 weeks to complete production on a gown. In addition to the time it takes to create your gown, alterations will be needed. In order to accommodate all of our brides, our experienced seamstress prefers to have from two to four months to alter your dress to perfection.
When should I order my wedding gown?
We suggest ordering your bridal gown eight to nine months before your wedding date. However, we are happy to work with brides who have a shorter time frame.
Are walk-ins accepted?
If we are not in the middle of a scheduled appointment with a bride, we would absolutely love to help you try on the dress of your dreams! Don’t hesitate to come in and ask to look around or call us to see if we have some free time later in the day.
Why do you require appointments?
By scheduling appointments, we are able to provide an unparalleled shopping experience for every bride. When an appointment time is reserved, a bride is assigned an experienced bridal consultant who will adequately provide her with the attention she deserves. Scheduling an appointment will ensure that you are given the service desired when shopping for your gown and that you can try on the moment you enter the boutique.
